How You Can Keep Wood Shutters in Good Shape

How You Can Keep Wood Shutters in Good Shape

We have a few maintenance tips to help preserve the gorgeous appearance of wood shutters.

Wood shutters look great in pretty much any house. When well-maintained, they can seriously improve the look of any room in which you put them, but maintenance is key. So, what maintenance procedures should you follow to keep your shutters in great condition? We have a few maintenance tips to help preserve the gorgeous appearance of wood shutters.

It’s a Must to Dust Your Wood Shutters

Dusting is a big part of caring for your wood shutters, and it’s very simple to do. All it takes is your everyday household duster to get the task done. By dusting your shutters, dirt and debris don’t have the chance to accumulate on them. You should do dusting about once per week if you want good results.

Only Use Approved Cleaning Supplies

If your wood shutters get particularly messy, dusting might not be enough to get all of the dirt off. In situations like this, cleaning products may be needed. Just be sure the cleaning product you’re using is designed to work on natural wood.

Some people choose to use furniture polish as a way of cleaning wood shutters. If you’re uncertain of what product to use, you can always consult a professional window treatment company.

Don’t Expose Your Wood Shutters to Too Much Moisture and Humidity

Water is a natural enemy of wood, and your shutters are no exception. A little water isn’t going to do too much harm, but as moisture piles up, your wood shutters are put at greater risk. Wet cleaning products can cause your wood shutters to begin peeling or warping.

If you want to preserve the look of your wood shutters, you should minimize the humidity in your house whenever and wherever possible.
