What to Know About Luxury Vinyl Tile to Avoid Future Problems

Here is what you should know about luxury vinyl tile so that you don’t encounter worse problems later.

Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) is a popular flooring option for good reason. It’s durable, affordable, and fairly low-maintenance. Combine that with the flexibility to be used in pretty much any room, and it’s no wonder why people choose it over other types of flooring. With that said, you should be aware of everything that can go wrong with LVT before you invest in it. By knowing what potential problems can arise before they happen, you can take measures to prevent those problems from popping up. Here is what you should know about luxury vinyl tile so that you don’t encounter worse problems later.

Luxury Vinyl Tile Can Dent

Don’t get us wrong; luxury vinyl tile is very strong and durable. However, it is not invincible, so you’ll still have to exercise caution. You can still cause damage to your LVT from different heavy objects. Heavy pieces of furniture and other appliances with a lot of weight behind them can cause your LVT to dent. Fortunately, LVT will take longer to dent than floors made of other materials, such as hardwood.

Luxury Vinyl Tile is Prone to Fading When Exposed to Sunlight

Vinyl will gradually fade over time. It’s only natural for floors to start fading as time goes on. One thing that accelerates the fading process is sunlight. If your LVT gets exposed to enough sunlight, your floor will fade much sooner than it otherwise would. Fortunately, you can reduce the impact of the sun’s rays on your floor.

With curtains and blinds, you can shield your floor from the sun and preserve its color for much longer. If you don’t want to block out the sun as much, UV-blocking film or tint works wonders. You can protect your floor while also keeping your room bright and chipper.

It Can Be Tough to Remove Luxury Vinyl Tile

Some floors are easier to remove than others, and luxury vinyl tile is, unfortunately, one of those floors that can be a hassle. If you have LVT that gets installed with the help of an adhesive, removing the tile becomes more challenging after the adhesive has dried off. If you can get your floor into one-foot strips with a little cutting, you should be able to pull it up and scrape the remaining adhesive off. Then, you can vacuum whatever dirt and debris remain.
