Choosing the Best Color for Carpeting

Getting the Perfect Carpeting Color to Complement Your Walls

Here is what you can do to ensure you get the right color for your carpeting.

It doesn’t always take too much decorating to make your room feel more lively and welcoming. Sometimes, all you need is the right carpet to give you that wholesome feel you should get when you’re at home. If you’re thinking about getting carpeting, one of the variables to keep in mind is what color that carpet should be. Color influences the mood of your room, so you should choose wisely to achieve whatever feel you want for the area. Here is what you can do to ensure you get the right color for your carpeting.

Starting With the Basics

A foundational rule for carpeting is that it should match the other parts of your room, such as the furniture and walls. Contrasting is still in style, though, so you could consider trying out different colors until you get the look you want.

It’s much easier to match your carpet with other areas of your room if the house is still new and you haven’t decorated yet. If you recently purchased a house and haven’t done any decorating, you should get furniture before anything else. After that, you can choose curtains, and lastly, you decide on the color your carpeting and wallpaper will have. You choose them in this order because furniture colors are more restricting when compared to the wide range of colors carpeting can have.

Neutral Colors for Carpeting Are a Safe Bet

Neutral colors are a fantastic option for carpeting. This isn’t because they’re flashy or anything, and in fact, it’s quite the opposite. Since neutral colors don’t draw people’s attention, it becomes easier to bring people’s focus to other areas of your room. This means people will focus on areas of your room that are more important, and they won’t be too overwhelmed by having an excessive number of eye-catching colors in the area.

Put Some Personality Into the Color Your Carpeting Has

While you could go with a neutral color for your carpeting, there’s also the option to put some personal flair into the room. Consider adding patterns to your carpet to give it a style all your own. It doesn’t have to be too complex to look nice either. Simple patterns give a room plenty of style without feeling excessive.
