Knowing When Your Carpet is Ready to be Replaced

Knowing When Your Carpet is Ready to be Replaced

Here is how to tell that your carpet should get replaced.

We try to get our carpets to last as long as we can, but eventually, they won’t be able to last anymore. Carpets should last between 5 and 15 years, depending on the quality of the material and how well you care for it. Typically, you’ll start to notice signs that it’s time to get new carpeting, and we want to go over some of these signs with you. Here is how to tell that your carpet should get replaced.

You Can’t Get Rid of the Stains

There are many ways to combat stains, whether that means using a spot treatment cleaning product or bringing in assistance from a professional carpet cleaning service. If you find that none of these methods work, the stains are probably permanent. You won’t want to have stained carpeting because it doesn’t look great, and you would have to use furniture to hide whatever stains you have, which can become a hassle.

This makes replacing your carpeting the best method. You won’t need to conceal stains anymore, and you can add more appeal to the rooms in your house.

Your Carpet Smells

Sometimes, it’s not the look of your carpet that can be off-putting; sometimes, it’s the smell instead. Carpets can inherit smells from a variety of sources, such as cooking, smoking, or pets. It can be tougher to enjoy the space around your home when carpeting has a strong smell to it.

New carpets will have no odor, and by not having a smell, it’s easier to get enjoyment from them. If you’ve contemplated getting a new carpet, there are options out there with built-in anti-odor technology that protect against strong smells.

This protection usually takes the form of a special pad, which comes equipped with a barrier designed to keep spills from ever settling into the carpeting. The anti-spill protection persists even after you’ve cleaned your carpet, so you don’t have to worry about washing your protective barrier away.

You can even get these protective properties alongside a plethora of improved quality-of-life features. These include sound and thermal insulation, being hypo-allergenic, the ability to be recycled after use, and high air quality.

You’re Preparing to Sell Your House

Homebuyers will be more interested in your house if you keep it in “like new” condition. Part of maintaining this level of appearance means getting your carpets replaced. Doing this will make it easier to make a strong first impression on anyone who is considering purchasing your house. New carpets will show homebuyers that you care for your property, and when you keep your house in premium condition, it’s easier to get good resale value on it.
