Knowing When Your Window Treatments Should Get Replaced

Knowing When Your Window Treatments Should Get Replaced

Here is how you can tell you should replace your window treatments.

Have you looked closely at your blinds recently? It’s important for you to check on them on occasion, especially if you have had your blinds for a long time. Eventually, your window treatments will start to show signs that it’s about time to replace them. Here is how you can tell you should replace your window treatments.

They Have Bent/Warped Slats

If your window treatments have warped slats, it could mean a couple of things. If they are made of wood, humidity could have damaged them.  If you have faux wood blinds, then they could have been damaged by the heat.

Either way, they won’t work how they need to work anymore. Sometimes, you can replace individual slats if you only have a couple that are damaged. Typically, however, you will need to get the entire set replaced.

You Have Trouble Raising Your Window Treatments

Do your window treatments take much more effort to raise than normal? Perhaps they can’t even be lifted to any extent. This could mean that your lifting mechanisms are damaged, and they could be ready to break at any time. Maybe your blinds are a little wider than they should be, making it difficult for your mechanisms and cords to support them.

If this is the problem you experience, then your window treatments are at risk for falling off. This means you should replace all of them as soon as you can.

Your Window Treatments Have Frayed Cords

If you have frayed cords, then replacing your blinds is recommended. If your cords are frayed, it means that your internal mechanisms have been damaging your cords, or your blinds have gotten old enough that they have become worn down.

In both scenarios, they will fall off soon. This means you should take initiative and get them replaced before this happens.
