Preventing and Fixing Scratches on Your Luxury Vinyl Tile

Here are ways for you to prevent scratches and fix existing ones on your luxury vinyl tile.

Any time your floor gets scratched, it’s not a pleasant sight. You want a floor that can have scratches patched up easily, and your floor should also not be easy to scratch from the start. Luxury vinyl tile is one of the flooring types that satisfies these categories. This is what makes it the perfect type of floor for houses that have a lot of foot traffic, and especially for homes with pets and small children. KEEP IN MIND, THE SURFACE WEAR LAYER (6, 8, 12, 20, 22, 30 MIL) ON THE SURFACE WILL DETERMINE HOW EASY YOUR LUXURY VINYL FLOORING WILL HOLD UP.

Unfortunately, even luxury vinyl tile can be damaged. Knowing how to prevent and minimize the damage your floor sustains is crucial so that your floor lasts as long as it can. Here are ways for you to prevent scratches and fix existing ones on your luxury vinyl tile.

Preventing Scratches

All scratches come from a source, and it’s up to you to uncover what that source is. Once the source of floor scratching has been identified, you can remove it from the premises.

Sometimes, it’s dirt, and other types of debris that rub against your tile, which is why cleaning your floor can be so important. Try running a broom or mop across your luxury vinyl tile when you notice dirt buildup.

In other instances, you might scratch your floor while trying to move furniture. If you put coverings beneath the legs of your furniture, you won’t cause scratches while moving anything.

Fixing Existing Scratches

If you were thinking about whether or not it was possible to repair scratches on your luxury vinyl tile, the answer is yes. There are light scratches, and there are deep ones. Depending on the kinds of scratches your floor has, the method for removing those scratches will vary.

Lighter scratches are the kinds that are brought about by reasons such as walking around in the house. Shoes or pets’ paws can cause light scuff marks to show up on your tile, and you should address these marks by either using a vacuum cleaner or a mop.

Deeper scratches, on the other hand, need to be handled by sanding them using sandpaper. REMOVING / REPLACING THE SECTION. We advise using Dr Schutz’s Scratch Fix solution. With this solution, getting rid of, or concealing, scratches will be a breeze.

Scratch Fix is easy to use, allowing it to be used on all sorts of floors. The scratch repair kit gives you all of the needed materials to address your floor scratches. There are videos (found at www.thefloorguy.com), that can help you figure out how to properly use the solution.

Once sanding is done, take a piece of clothing made from soft cotton and dust off the surface. Lastly, take a chemical cleaner, and apply it on top of the scratch lines. The cleaner should have around ten minutes to dry before you stream the scratched area, at which point you need to allow six hours for the sprayed area to dry.
